Anticipation over the new 2014 Silverado has been building for some time now and all the speculation
and assumptions are about to be put to rest. There are just days left until you will be able to
drop by your local Chevy dealer and test drive the new 2014 Silverado for yourself. But until
than here is what we know about the new trucks from Chevrolet.
The new 2014 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab with the Z-71 Off Road Package similar to the test truck used in this site will be offered at a price very similar to last years 2013 offering.
Right from the factory, the 2014
Silverado 1500 with its 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 is rated at 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque.
That figure out to be a very respectable gains of 40 horsepower and 48 lb-ft of torque compared
to the last years 5.3 engine. The new 2014 5.3 EcoTec V8 also gives the popular Silverado 1500
the edge in towing too when properly equipped. By mating up the new 5.3 Eco-Tec to the well proven
six-speed automatic and optional Max Trailer Package, the resulting class-leading tow capacity
of up to 11,500 pounds is achieved.
There's still no definitive word on either of the two other new engines specifically developed for the 2014 Silverado line of trucks. What we know is there will be a standard 4.3-liter EcoTec V6 added to the base trucks and an optional top-of-the-line 6.2-liter EcoTec V8 that we are told will be released just a little bit later in 2013. GM has stated that both of these new EcoTec engines will offer similar fuel efficiency improvements and increases to the capability ratings compared to their 2013 counterparts they are replacing.
